Nobody likes doing a lot of typing on a mobile device. Having to manually enter all of your customers, projects, and activities is tedious.
Aside from being tedious, most ReportAway! users have a back-end accounting or book keeping service where they already have all this data and it is very important to keep the mobile device synchronized with the back-end system.

A feature to import and / or synchronize ReportAway! data is the top priority feature on the roadmap at time of writing.

What we are doing in this area are the following.
1. A basic capability that will allow import of data from an email attachment. This will be included in the standard version of ReportAway! The basic capability will be optimized for QuickBooks users, but we expect to generalize it so it can be used with other accounting packages. We will likely also add the capability to import customers from the BlackBerry contact list.

2. Integration with on line services with more seamless synchronization of data over the air. Our first target integration is with the FreshBooks service (see www.FreshBooks.com ) . There are additional services lined up behind FreshBooks and each of these will be supported in a different variant of a "Pro" version of the ReportAway! product.

Being able to import our customers and projects en masse from Quickbooks was very helpful, but as new customers and projects are added over time the need to manually input these (and ensure that each employee does this correctly with the exact same spelling, etc.) is going to prove difficult. The import itself was not seamless. We needed to split the list up into a number of smaller files to work around the 64 kb limit on imports to the blackberries. Some of the customer or project names (perhaps 10 - 15) came in with strange punctuation or incomplete names for some reason; we have to clean these up on each blackberry using the edit function.

Wireless syncing of new customers, projects and activities to employees' blackberries would be extremely useful. Similarly, wireless and automatic reporting of time entries would be fantastic. We have been looking for a wireless, synced solution to timekeeping entry into Quickbooks using blackberries for several years. That's really the holy grail. This app is the closest we've found, but does not provide the seamless synchronization feature.
